BATTALION NEWS (Running

Wednesday 1st April 2009
25th Hastings Half Marathon
ShinyCapstar recently received images from Sgt Simon
Hebson who completed the Hastings Half Marathon with
some muckers. Here's his words ....
Hi
ShinyCapstar,
Any room for three nutters, who in the blistering heat
on the South coast of Hastings ran the 25th Hastings
Half Marathon in 2hours and 25 minutes.
CSM Colin Pote (2 Coy), myself and Gdsm Ricky Hodges (MT
PL) ran the race in Boots carrying 35lb in weight, along
a challenging route which took us 6 miles up hill at the
very beginning towards Battle.
Throughout the course we had a lot of support and
especially the support of a Sussex Branch Association
member John Merricks, who very kindly provided us with a
bit of cheeky refreshment of Bottle of Becks. I must say
went down really well.
The whole day was a great success and the main idea was
PR and I can honestly say that we had achieved our aim
and that was to spread the name of the Regiment and
finish the course as a group, even if Gdsm Hodges did
find it difficult with shins splints most of the way
round..
