WHY, the campaign?

The wristband awareness campaign was created to generate support for all Coldstream Guards soldiers (and attached personnel) and their families. Much thought was placed in the design of the wristband and as an English Regiment, it was decided that the design of the wristband would be unique based on the St Georges Cross (wristband image shown below).

PLEASE NOTE: we are not SELLING wristbands but ask for a suggested donation for each wristband taken, see below.

WHAT, are the aims?

The wristband awareness campaign has been created with the following aims:

  a. Support to the families of those members of the Battalion who are Killed In Action
(e.g. support with funeral costs beyond that provided at Public Expense).

  b. Support to those injured on operations and their families
(e.g. support with costs incurred to make alterations to houses if needed etc).

  c. Support to families of those currently deployed
(e.g. provide activities for families, wives and children to help them cope with separation).

  d. Support to soldiers returning from operations to facilitate their transition to normal life once more
(e.g. funding Adventurous Training, Sport, and Team Building activities).

  e. Support to soldiers and / or their families under extraordinary personal strain for whom assistance by the Charity would be immediate and meaningful.

WOULD, you like to help?

Your help in this campaign could be anything from promoting our campaign to as many people as possible, using one of the posters below or placing the images on a forum or website.  But, if you would like to help by donating money for a wristband you have two choices (shown below).  Any help is greatly appreciated and again, even if you can only help by promoting the campaign - that will be enough (more details here):

1 – You can gain individual wristbands (suggested donation of £2 each) direct from the Welfare Office (details below).

   or

2 – You can also volunteer to promote the campaign with your own wristbands , either in the Battalion or elsewhere, and raise as much cash as possible to support our aim,
(this choice was used to great advantage by Branches during the last Herrick Tour).

OPTION 1 – to get your own individual Coldstream wristband:

To get hold of your own individual wristbands that you can promote, you should send a cheque (the donation that would be raised for each wristband taken) to the address below, made payable to ‘CENTRAL BANK – 1 COLDM GDS’.

PLEASE NOTE: Wrist bands are available for a suggested donation of £2 each and you should write ‘Wristband Appeal’ on the reverse of the cheque (i.e 5 wristbands 'should' raise' a suggested donation of £10). There are also two sizes of wristbands, small and large – you should state this in your order.

You should also ensure that you send us your Name, Address and Postcode so we can dispatch your wristbands to you ASAP.

Cheques are to be sent to:

WRISTBAND APPEAL
Unit Welfare Office
1st Battalion Coldstream Guards
Mons Barracks
Princes Avenue
Aldershot, GU11 2LF
Tel 01252 355517 (in case of queries or questions)

OPTION 2 – to be sent wristbands (large numbers/bulk) to raise money for the aim:

This option was used to great effect by members of our Branches and other individuals that helped raise money by promoting wristbands for donations within your organisation.

  · To be the sent wristbands you must first decide how many wristbands you wish to order.

  · You will then need to send a cheque to the Welfare Office for that amount (£2 suggested donation for each wristband) where the cheque can either be held as a deposit until you promote your wristbands, or cashed to cover the suggested donations for wristbands you have been sent.  You can also promote your wristband campaign by printing off some free posters available here.

  · You must state in your order if you wish the cheque to be cashed or held until funds are received. Cheques will only be held for a maximum of 28 days, and failure to state that the cheque must be held will result in it being automatically cashed at the Central Bank.

  · If your cheque is to held by the Welfare Office, you then have a maximum of 28 days to collect donations for your wristbands (a suggested donation of £2 per wristband) and then to send on another cheque which will be cashed by us (your old holding cheque will then be destroyed).

To get hold of wristbands you should send your cheque to the address below, made payable to ‘CENTRAL BANK – 1 COLDM GDS’ (make sure you state this is a holding cheque).
