SOME BRIEF INFORMATION ABOUT THIS PROJECT ...

For those that are not aware, the Coldstream Guards Commemorative Capstar was a project which began in January 2010 for competition on the return of the Coldstream Guards from Op Herrick 11, Afghanistan. The project invited all and everyone to make a donation of £2 to have their name shown inside a piece of Regimental History. The outside of the Capstar was to feature images from the tour of Afghanistan, plus any images that were submitted by those making a donation (due to space constraints not all images could be used).

DESCRIPTION OF THE CAPSTAR (and some features) ...

This piece has taken many months to complete, showing a Coldstream Guards Capbadge which holds over 180 individual names from serving members of the Regiment, Past Serving Members of the Regiment (some dating back to the 1st World War), Military Personnel from other Regiments & Corps and families & friends of Coldstreamers (and attached personnel) who have served or still serve in the Coldstream Guards. Each name has been painstakingly manipulated by hand (digitally) to take the form of the inner of the Capbadge.

Coldstreamers that have been killed in Afghanistan on Op Herrick 10 & 11 are shown on the bottom of the Commemorative Piece, their names are:

Guardsman Michael Sweeney of No.1 Company, 1st Battalion Coldstream Guards, who was killed in action in Helmand Province, Afghanistan on Thursday 01 April 2010.
Lieutenant Douglas Dalzell of No.1 Company, 1st Battalion Coldstream Guards, who was killed in action in Helmand Province, Afghanistan on Thursday 18 February 2010.
Lance Corporal Darren Hicks of No.1 Company, 1st Battalion Coldstream Guards, who was killed in action in Helmand Province, Afghanistan on Thursday 11 February 2010.
Sergeant John Amer of No.1 Company, 1st Battalion Coldstream Guards, who was killed in action in Helmand Province, Afghanistan on Monday 30th November 2009.
Lance Corporal James Hill of the Mortar Platoon, 1st Battalion Coldstream Guards, who was killed in action in Helmand Province, Afghanistan on Thursday 8th October 2009.
Guardsman Christopher King, 1st Battalion Coldstream Guards, who was killed in action in Helmand Province (Op Herrick 10 - attached to the Welsh Guards), Afghanistan on Wednesday 22nd July 2009.

Surrounding the Capstar are various images that have been blended into each other to create a flowing montage to reflect the diversity and excellence that is ‘The Coldstream Guards’, these images are from;

• The Coldstream Guards recent tour of Afghanistan (Op Herrick 11).
• Number 7 Company’s monumental March from Coldstream to London.
• Exercises and Training from of the Coldstream Guards.
• Ceremonial Events from the Coldstream Guards.
• Historical Figures from the Coldstream Guards.
• And images submitted from individuals that wished for them to be featured on the piece.

A wreath can be seen surrounding the centre Capstar, this wreath displays the core values of the British Army;

Selfless commitment: to put others before yourself
Courage: to face up to danger and to do what is right
Discipline: to maintain the highest standards, so that others can rely on you
Integrity: to earn the respect and trust of your comrades
Loyalty: to be faithful to your comrades and your duty
Respect for others: to treat others with decency at all times

There are many, many more features to this Commemorative Capstar, any images or descriptions shown here will not do it justice. It is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that the piece be purchased in either A2 or A1 size, this is an ideal size to have mounted and framed or to be even stuck up on a wall with a little sticky-tack.

THE PRICE OF A PIECE OF REGIMENTAL HISTORY ...

It is hoped that everyone can understand the amount of time and effort that has been put into this outstanding piece of Coldstream History. It is, however, very obvious that having a price-tag that is not affordable would be very ............. unpractical.  For those reasons, I have sourced many professional printers to ensure that the print you receive is of the highest quality but in the same vein, affordable.

It is recommended that either the HUGE A2 (420 × 594mm) or SUPER HUGE A1 (594 × 841mm) versions are purchased, as any size smaller size could result that details may not be read (i.e names, description & images on the piece). Should you insist on requiring an A3 (297 × 420mm) or A4 (210 × 297mm) print then this is still possible, but you will need to e-mail me with your requirement.

State of the art professional equipment is used to reproduce this piece of work (not printed on a home printer). The paper used is 120gram premium bond paper, and the finish is exceptional to say the least (you will not be disappointed).

Each order will be dispatched in an extremely tough mailing tube by RECORDED POST (this is the only method that I am willing to dispatch the prints). This is to ensure that you receive your order is perfect condition and also to ensure that no items are lost in transit (and if they are, a Royal Mail investigation can be initiated – as all orders are insured).
